Breaking taboos. Building confidence. Creating livelihoods.
At SumArth, Sabla – Periods with Pride is our flagship movement to break deep-rooted menstrual taboos, build scientific awareness, and ensure access to safe and affordable menstrual products for adolescent girls and women in marginalized communities. We combine awareness, community dialogue, and women-led production units so that dignity, health, and income grow together.
What we do under Sabla
- Menstrual biology, hygiene practices, nutrition, mental well-being and myth-busting sessions in schools and communities.
- Women-run sanitary pad production units that ensure affordable access and dignified livelihoods.
- Nukkad Natak (street theatre) to spark dialogue and challenge superstitions in community spaces.
- Pad-Yatra awareness marches to build public support and normalize conversations.
- Screenings of Period. End of Sentence followed by open discussions to engage men and families.
Why it matters
- Improves safe menstrual practices and reduces stigma.
- Helps girls stay in school and participate confidently.
- Builds local production and local jobs through women-led units.
- Creates a supportive environment involving families and men as allies.
