From Soil to Success: Sustainable Agriculture & Farmer Livelihoods

At SumArth, we believe that healthy soil is the foundation of strong rural livelihoods. Through this initiative, we empower small and marginal farmers—especially women farmers—to shift from low-income, high-risk traditional practices to climate-resilient, diversified, and high-return farming systems.

Building income security through integrated, market-focused agri-models

We promote integrated farming models that combine mushroom cultivation, high-value crops (baby corn, sweet corn, dragon fruit), vermicomposting, beekeeping, and organic input production. These models ensure year-round income, reduce dependence on a single crop, and help farmers withstand climate challenges such as drought, erratic rainfall, and extreme heat.

Soil Health & Scientific Practices

Soil health management, quality seed/spawn selection, scientific cultivation practices, and sustainable resource use to improve productivity and profitability.

Post-harvest & Value Chain Support

Training in post-harvest handling, processing, storage, grading, and direct market linkages to reduce losses and increase price realization.

Collectives, FPOs & Agri-Entrepreneurship

Connecting farmers with FPOs and collective platforms, building rural youth and women as agri-entrepreneurs for long-term income security.

What this initiative changes on the ground

Our approach provides end-to-end handholding support—from soil health management, quality seed and spawn selection, scientific cultivation practices, and natural pest management, to post-harvest handling, processing, storage, and direct market linkages. Farmers are also trained in cost optimization, record keeping, and sustainable resource use, enabling them to increase both productivity and profitability.

A special focus is placed on women farmers, landless families, and rural youth, helping them become agri-entrepreneurs rather than daily wage laborers. By connecting them with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), collective platforms, and value-addition units, we enable access to fair prices, stable markets, and long-term income security.

This initiative goes beyond farming. It is about restoring dignity, building economic independence, strengthening food security, and creating a truly climate-resilient rural future.
